Database Administrator (Kuala Lumpur - Kuala Lumpur)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. To provide a database administration service (for Oracle and DB2) within a range of assignments and to provide Database Programming on Stored Procedure
2. To provide a database support and design service including:
- Stored Procedure
- Application database design, monitoring and control
- Database backup and recovery
- Database performance
- Data dictionary and encyclopedias
3. To ensure that the data management component of the solutions being proposed is technically sound, is capable of being provided within budget and is capable of supporting the applications which are using it
4. To provide a range of data management solutions
5. To provide technical advice to delivery teams to ensure the data management components of systems meet their design specifications and service targets
6. To implement appropriate software configuration management processes for database administration configurable items
7. To report progress and issues to the team leader or Project Manager in a timely manner. In particular, to relay issues that might impact on quality or the ability to deliver to timescales or estimates
8. To identify and communicate potential risk areas
9. To promote and contribute to a body of knowledge in the application of technology to addressing business issues
10. To undertake on project estimating
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Key skills - A minimum of 4 years Database Administration (preferably on Oracle and DB2). The job involves both development and live support, problem solving and some design.
2. Knowledge in Oracle Database, IBM DB2 is a MUST
3. Knowledge of Unix, Linux and Windows is an added advantage
4. Experience in resolving performance problems and understanding the impact of both application and software upgrades.
5. Interface with development teams to perform database design.
6. Familiarity with change management system / procedures.
7. CA Unicenter / Tivoli or similar system monitoring technology exposure is an added advantage.
8. Self-motivated and resourceful with the ability to learn fast and work independently.
9. Good communication and interpersonal skills required in order to effectively interact with team leaders and technical staff.
10. Possess Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certificate is an added advantage.
11. Educational qualifications - Diploma or higher.
12. Essential Skills - DB Admin, DB utilities, Backup + recovery, SQL commands, Performance tuning, modeling, physical/logical design.
13. Oracle - SOLARIS 10/9 and Windows 2003 Operating System, Oracle administration 10g / 9i or Oracle - RAC / RMAN / Discoverer / Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) / Backup and recovery, Performance Tuning and Diagnostic, Data Migration
14. DB2 - IBM AIX UNIX and Windows 2003 Operating System, DB2 Administration, IBM Federation and Omnifind, Data Migration
15. Desired Skills / knowledge:
- Network topology / working knowledge of Windows NT, 2000, XP, 2003
